People will seek the ends of the galaxy to avoid that which they need most. I’ve seen this happen more times than I can count. Years ago, I was working with a client that had multiple problems at his company. He had lead thieves in the company who were stealing from him.

He also had one of his employees who was stealing from him. This employee did everything he could to get others to do everything for him, including himself, while he did nothing to help anyone else. He would stay late to work on his personal computer when everyone else was done for the day, knowing it would make him look good if he had more work done than anyone else in the company.

He was constantly looking for new ways to be lazy while still receiving all of the benefits of working hard. The problem with this situation is that everyone in the company saw this employee steal money time and time again while no one ever did anything about it. This employee knew that the people in the company were afraid to challenge him, so he took advantage of that fear, using it to take all of the money he wanted and to hide his own dishonest actions from those who could have stopped him. The key is that people will assume that what they need most is going to come from wherever they are going, but it won't. The people around you are always going to be your greatest obstacle because they will want you to go down a path that is not going to help you reach your goals. Fortunately, as long as you don't give up you can end up where you want, no matter how long it takes or how much it costs
